Privacy Policy — Scenera
Last updated: August 2026
Scenera ("the App") is a TV show tracking application. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and password, used to create and secure your account. You may optionally add a display name and a profile photo.
- Watch history: the shows and episodes you mark as watched, planned, watching, completed, dropped, or favorited, along with any ratings or reactions you provide.
- User-generated content: notes, reactions, and similar content you create within the App and attach to shows or episodes.
- Imported data (optional): if you choose to import a TV Time (or similar) export file, we process the show titles, episode counts, and ratings contained in that file to populate your watchlist. The uploaded file itself is processed to build your library and is not retained beyond what's needed to complete the import.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications, your device registers a token used to deliver reminders (e.g. new episodes, upcoming premieres) to that device.
- Crash and error data: if the App crashes or encounters an error, technical details about that event (such as the device type, app version, and the error itself) are automatically collected to help us fix bugs.
- AI chat messages (optional): if you use the "Ask Scenera AI" feature, the message you type is sent, together with a summary of your watch history (show titles you've completed or are watching), to our AI provider in order to generate a personalized recommendation. See "Third-party services" below.
How we use this information
Your data is used to provide the App's core functionality: tracking what you watch, showing upcoming episodes, generating AI-powered recommendations when you ask for them, sending optional notifications, and syncing your library across devices. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for advertising.
Sharing between users (Friends feature)
If you choose to connect with another Scenera user as a friend within the App, the shows you've marked as "Favorite" become visible to that connected friend, and vice versa. No other part of your watchlist or watch history is shared with friends. You can disconnect a friend at any time, which immediately stops this sharing.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each processes only the data described below, for the purpose stated.
- Supabase — hosts our database, handles account authentication, and stores uploaded profile photos. See Supabase's privacy policy.
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — we use TMDB's API to retrieve show information, images, and cast details. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. See TMDB's privacy policy.
- Sentry — receives crash and error data (see "Crash and error data" above) so we can diagnose and fix problems in the App. See Sentry's privacy policy.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications to your device using your device's notification token. See Firebase's privacy policy.
- Groq — powers the "Ask Scenera AI" feature. When you use this feature, your message and a summary of your watch history are sent to Groq to generate a response. This only happens when you actively use the AI chat feature. See Groq's privacy policy.
- Resend — sends account-related emails, such as email confirmation and password reset messages, to the email address on your account. See Resend's privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, in either of two ways:
- In the App: Profile → Delete my account. This deletes your data immediately and automatically.
- On the web: visit our account deletion page and follow the instructions there — useful if you no longer have the App installed.
Deleting your account permanently removes your account credentials, watchlist, watch history, ratings, reactions, profile photo, friend connections, and any data imported from TV Time or similar sources. If you'd like to keep a copy of your data first, you can export it from the Profile screen before deleting your account. Requests submitted via the web page are fulfilled within 30 days.
Your choices and controls
- Profile photo, notifications, and the AI chat feature are all optional — the App's core tracking functionality works without them.
- You can export a full copy of your watchlist and watch history at any time from the Profile screen.
- You can disconnect a friend at any time to stop sharing your favorites with them.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, as described above.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
